After working for years as an installer for his mother's flooring company, in 1978, our late founder, Mike Blanton, founded Dalton Carpet Outlet in Athens, Georgia.

With just one other employee, Dalton Carpet Outlet became part of the nationwide Carpet One cooperative in 1988 and renamed Dalton Carpet One. Continued to be guided by this principle today, Mike believed in operating the store on what he called “The Grocery Store Principle.” It means if we saw one of our customers in the grocery store, we wouldn’t feel the need to go down another aisle to avoid them, because we handle all our projects correctly and with care from start to finish. Our team at Dalton Carpet One wants to be able to greet every Dalton Carpet One customer we encountered with confidence, knowing we took care of them and their home from start to finish.

As of December of 2018, Dalton Carpet One and DCO Commercial Floors, our sister company, are now owned and operated by two long-time employees, JR Allred and Curtis Blanton. JR Allred began working with us in 2004 and now serves as the President of Dalton Carpet One. JR has worked in several different roles and managed many aspects of the company in his time with us, allowing him to acquire a diverse knowledge of our unique business.

Curtis Blanton, son of our late founder, Mike Blanton, has worked with the company since graduating in 2007. He operates as a co-owner and the President of DCO Commercial Floors. Under our new leadership, Dalton Carpet One continues to be your family-owned and operated flooring, kitchen, and bath experts.
